How to Verify a Chemical Supplier from China

October 25, 2026

China supplies a large share of the world's industrial chemicals, and most exporters are legitimate — but the offer in your inbox says little about what stands behind it. This checklist shows how experienced buyers verify a supplier before larger orders, and what good answers look like.

1. Check the Company Behind the Offer

Confirm a registered company with a consistent name across the website, documents and bank account, a real product focus, and a track record you can follow. Theone Chemical is a China-based sourcing partner built on 20 years of chemical export work; our model and partner factories are described openly on this site, including the manufacturers we source from.

2. Read the COA, Not Just the Price

Ask for a recent certificate of analysis for the exact product and grade, and compare the tested items with the specification in the offer — active matter for SLES 70%, hydroxyl value for pentaerythritol, and so on. A COA that never changes between lots, or that lists only the headline number, deserves questions.

3. Ask Where the Product Is Made

A credible supplier can name the producing factory or explain its sourcing plainly. Theone works three ways, stated up front: buy from Theone at a delivered quotation, take a tailored sourcing plan, or connect directly with the factory — in each case the source is known before you commit.

4. Samples and Inspection

Test a sample in your own formulation before bulk orders. For larger shipments, agree on pre-shipment inspection (such as SGS or BV) in the contract, including who pays and what happens if results miss the specification.

5. Red Flags

Prices far below the market with no explanation, reluctance to share documents, shifting specifications between offer and contract, and pressure to prepay into a personal account are all reasons to slow down. Transparent offers state the product, grade, specification, source and packing on the quotation itself.
