What Is SLES 70% Used For?
October 25, 2026
SLES 70% (sodium laureth sulfate, also called SLES or AES) is one of the most widely used anionic surfactants in the world. It is supplied as a high-active paste — 70% active matter — that manufacturers dilute and blend into finished products. Its combination of strong cleaning, rich foam and good value is why it sits at the center of so many detergent and personal care formulations. Theone Chemical supplies SLES 70% sourced from leading Chinese producers such as Zanyu.
Laundry and Dishwashing Products
The largest use is in laundry detergents and liquid dishwashing products. SLES removes oily soil, produces stable foam and works well together with other surfactants and builders such as STPP. In powder and liquid laundry formulations it is a primary workhorse surfactant.
Personal Care Products
Shampoos, body washes, hand soaps and bubble baths use SLES as the main cleansing and foaming agent. Because the ethoxylated molecule is milder than SLS, it is the standard choice for personal care that needs both cleaning power and skin feel.
Household and Industrial Cleaning
All-purpose cleaners, car wash liquids and institutional cleaning products also use SLES for degreasing and foam. It further serves as an auxiliary in textile processing, leather and some industrial emulsification applications.
How SLES 70% Is Supplied
The 70% paste is packed in plastic drums (typically 170 kg) for export. In cold weather the paste thickens and is commonly warmed before pumping.
